Sahan Keerthisiri to lead Antonians

Fly half Sahan Keerthisiri who is a dynamic goal kicker has been named as the St. Anthony’s College Katugastota rugby captain and Saduka Athukorale as the vice captain for the coming season and they are hard at rugby training, there are over thirty players at fitness and ball handling training. This time too their coach is Sumedha Malawana former Vidyartha College, Navy SC and Sri Lanka player; he is an experienced coach and a knowledgeable man in the rugby field. He learnt his rugger at Vidyartha College, and played in 1986 and in 1998 was his best school year. Later went onto represent the Havelock SC from there he joined Navy in 2000 and played nearly fifteen years.

He also guided Navy as an assistant coach, his old school Vidyartha College and helped them to win matches. He is coaching the Antonians from 2019 to date and sure to give his best to come out with a talented side. The forwards coach is Asitha Rathnayake former Maliyadeva , St. Peter’s and Kandy SC player. The backs coach is Pavithra de Silva a product of St. Anthony’s College.

Kingswood junior rugby tourney

Kingswood Grassroots Rugby organized a ten a side junior rugby tournament for under 12 players in Central Province few days back at the Bogambara Stadium with the participation of 16 teams from 12 schools and was a successful event. Kingswood Grassroots Rugby (KGR) was formed in 2017 by a few ex-Kingswood rugger players together with old boys who love to support and develop Rugby at junior level.
