Police arrest six involved in an attack on a NPP Party village meeting

The Weerambugedara Police have arrested six suspects involved in an attack on a village level meeting of the National People’s Power Party held in Potuhera, Panagamuwa village recently.

The arrested also includes two supporters of the NPP.

Police say that seven of these eight suspects are residents of Panagamuwa, Potuhera, and one suspect is a resident of Thalawattegedara. These suspects are aged between 24 and 48 years. This attack took place on Dec 6th. Two people, including Somaratne Edirisinghe, a member of the National People’s Power Party of Polgahawela PS, were admitted to the Kurunegala Hospital after being injured.

Police investigations have revealed that both parties involved in the incidents are relatives and a political difference was the reason for the incident.
