IP, two men flee after assault on businessman’s son

Wennappuwa police said that a 22-year-old son of a businessman who was attacked by a police officer and two underworld characters in a hotel in Nainamadama, Wennappuwa is receiving treatment in a private hospital in a serious condition.

The police say that the young man was hit on the head with a broken bottle and the young man was also stabbed in the waist with the broken bottle.

The young man was attacked with a bottle by Podi Kumara, who is identified by the police as an underworld leader staying in Katunayake.The police officer who assaulted the young man has been identified as a police Inspector attached to the Western Province North Crime Division.

Wennappuwa police say that the police officer and the underworld leader and his acolyte have fled after this attack.
