ICE parcel on air mail from Mexico detected

Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) recovered 650 grams of methamphetamine drug (ICE) worth Rs.13 million in a parcel

that had been sent through a courier service from Mexico yesterday.

It had been sent to a fake address in the Matara area and a person who had come to accept the parcel at the BIA was also arrested, Sri Lanka Customs said.

This is the first time a parcel of drugs had arrived in the country through air mail from Mexico.

The suspect and the contraband have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
