Mount Calvary College in Hapugala, Galle was the new school which represented Milo All Island schools Netball championships recently concluded at Alfred F.Pieris Stadium Wennappuwa.
The Principal of Mount Calvary College Rev Fr Bernard Jayasinghe said this was a great achievement for the school junior Netball players to get more exposure for and Schools Netball Federation Treasurer Shamen Withanawasam gave big support to young team to compete at this Netball championships.We couldn’t win the tournament but our players got good exposure while playing matches against strong teams like Holy Family Convent Kurunegala.
Actually Nestle Lanka Ltd the makers of Milo and the Schools Netball Association headed by Nirodha Abeywickrama gave tremendous support for the school Netball players to come up and we really appreciate that
Mount Calvary College was formed recently but our players are very dedicated to qualify for the Milo schools Netball championships for the first time and our coaches Mrs Dalia and Wathsala and the parents gave good support to the players despite lack of facilities .We just began playing Netball in our college but within a very short period we got good achievement to represent Milo schools Netball championships said Rev Fr Bernard Jayasinghe.We also have a very talented junior cricket team and hope to go forward during the schools cricket tournament he said
