Import of jewellery above 22 carat restricted

The Government has issued a Special Gazette Notification limiting the import of gold above 22 carat in form of jewelleries. State Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya in a twitter said that this step was taken to prevent the smuggling of gold.
