Fowzie defies SJB decision, speaks on President’s throne speech debate

Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP A.H.M. Fowzie who was sworn in Parliament yesterday (10) joined the debate on the policy statement presented by the President even though the SJB had taken a decision to boycott the debate.

MP Fowzie said that he has a responsibility towards the nation and he would sincerely fulfill those responsibilities without focusing on politics.

MP Fowzie extended his gratitude to those who voted for him. “I got around 30,000 preferential votes even without me having anybody monitoring the counting centres individually,” he noted.

MP Fowzie noted that, during his lengthy political career, he was always elected by the people, not nominated, for all the positions he have had held.

Thus, he noted, he is committed to serve the nation and his constituency in all his power.
