SL companies to explore construction opportunities in Nigeria

In a bid to explore construction opportunities overseas a large number of Sri Lankan companies will participate in the BUILDMACEX in Nigeria from March 21 to 23.

Chief Executive Atlantic Exhibition Ltd, the exhibition organizer, Ayodeji Olugbade during a conference with President of the Ceylon Institute of Builders, (CIOB)said that this is the first time such a number of companies form Sri Lanka are participating in this event.

Olugbade noted that, Buildmacex exhibition would showcase technological innovation in the building industry and meeting with key distributors from different countries in West Africa.

“The relationship with Ceylon Institute provides bilateral trade opportunities between Sri-Lanka companies and Nigeria, to deepen relationships and share investment. The eighth edition of BUILDMACEX 2023, will feature building, construction, engineering, and machinery businesses from Sri-Lanka, the majority of which are Ceylon Institute of Builders members. Along with Sri Lankan firms, we also have exhibitors from China, Japan, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, and India. Professionals, trade dealers, supply chain agents, and stakeholders from Nigeria and other West African nations will participate in this special B2B exhibition.”

“Despite the economic crises and problems from the epidemic that have affected so many aspects of Sri Lanka’s economic system, the members of the institute have done well to improve in terms of infrastructure, technology, and products, and this professionalism they are ready to share and add values on the Nigeria economy and professional landscape,” said President CIOB, Dr. Rohan Karunarathne.

“This project is part of the Ceylon Institute of Builders’ road map to strengthen bilateral commercial relationships with foreign businesses, particularly Nigeria.”

The vice president CIOB, Ruwan De Silva, said in his statement that “Sri Lanka government is trying to increase bilateral trade with other countries, and Nigeria and other countries in west Africa are by no means an exception.”

“The CIOB is interested in building stronger relationships with major players in the building, construction, engineering, and machinery industries in other countries and this is an opportunity for construction companies to increase market penetration, strengthen brand building to reach their target audiences, and connect with more buyers, visitors, and industry professionals from the West African region.”
