Couple arrested over friend’s murder

The Pelamadulla police said that a 31 year-old resident of Pelmadulla and his wife,   were arrested on suspicion of killing a man who is said to have had an illicit affair with the suspect’s sister.

The suspect who is said to be a friend of the deceased is said to have had liquor with him and then beat him to death with a club.

The victims body was found buried about a kilometre from the site where the police believe the murder happened. The police say that the deceased is an unmarried person named Thushara Mahinda (32) a resident of Rilhena, Pelmadulla. The husband and wife after being presented to court were ordered to be remanded till February 21.
