Woman arrested with 33 gms of heroin

A young woman dressed in jeans and T-shirt was taken into custody by a team of officers attached to the Kandy sub-unit of the Police Narcotics Bureau with 33 grams of heroin in her possession, on Friday (17).

Galewela Police made the arrest.

Later, she was produced before Dambulla Magistrate’s Court by the Galewela Police who obtained a detention order for a week to question her.

According to the police, she was on bail from a high court for a drug-related offence. Police are therefore conducting further inquires to check if the suspect has committed other offences in other areas.

The suspect was identified as Walimuni Dewage Sunethra Samaranayaka, while her residence is at Dambulla Road, Galewela.
