The Police have revealed a connection of an Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of a Police Station in the North to a group
of four vehicle robbers arrested by the Nittambuwa Police on February 8.
Two among the group had been in the Police sports uniform.Police also recovered a handcuff in their possession. They had been going in a vehicle ready for a robbery.
The suspects are between the ages of 27 and 43.They had previously been jailed for various thefts and robberies and they had got to know each other in prison. They had been robbing vehicles by pretending to be police officers.
The Police said the OIC, who is allegedly connected to this group, has been using his connections with high rank police officials to get away from the law, and therefore implementing the law against him has been difficult. The OIC had been using a vehicle robbed by the gang from a vehicle hiring company.
