A new NPP government is bent on reversing destructive economic policies

“In the 2019 elections, our party faced significant setbacks. However, we strongly believed that people would soon recognise the deception they were subjected to and rally around the National People’s Power (NPP). For the past two to three years, we engaged in a carefully planned political strategy, while our opponents continued their corrupt ways, squandering public wealth, violating laws, and manipulating the judiciary. They believed that with empty promises and scare tactics, they could regain power as usual”, said the Presidential candidate of the NPP Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Addressing a rally held in Nawalapitiya on Sunday (15), he further said, “Our opponents are now left with no other strategy but to spread falsehoods and launch smear campaigns. Neither Sajith Premadasa nor Ranil Wickremesinghe can stop our rise now.”

“The upcoming election represents a pivotal moment in Sri Lankan politics. For decades, voters participated in elections but were continually let down by leaders who failed to meet their expectations. The country descended into bankruptcy, public services collapsed, and crime increased. On September 21, the people have an opportunity to fulfil their long-awaited hopes for a better future.”

“A new government must tackle two main challenges. It is eradicating the deeply rooted political corruption and reversing destructive economic policies. These two factors are the core reasons behind Sri Lanka’s collapse. It’s time to clean up this corrupt political landscape, and that’s what the NPP government will prioritise.”

“This corrupted politics, devoid of principle and filled with self-serving leaders, must end. The NPP’s mission is to establish a productive, self-sufficient economy that serves the people, not the elites. While the current economic policy in the country favours imports over local production, our government will shift the focus towards domestic goods and services, thereby revitalising the economy.”

“We’ve already identified sectors with the potential for rapid development and have detailed plans ready for immediate implementation. Every previous government has focused on enriching themselves, but we are determined to build a government that enriches the nation and empowers the people.”
