
The Department of Meteorology says afternoon showers are expected in some parts of Sri Lanka today, after 02.00 pm.
A few showers may occur in the North-central and Eastern provinces. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Sabaragamuwa province and in the Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 pm.
Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over the Eastern slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central, North-western, Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Hambantota district.
Misty conditions can be expected in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts in the morning.
Meanwhile, mainly fair weather will prevail in the sea areas around the island.
Winds will be north-easterly, and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Negombo to Mannar via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
