AHF to help develop two International Hockey grounds in Colombo and Matale

The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs on Saturday entered into a Memorundum of Understanding with the Asian Hockey Federation in Kuala Lumpur for the development of International Hockey ground at Reid Avenue, Colombo 07 and the Nandimithra International Hockey ground in Matale.

The development of these Hockey grounds costing Rs 110 million will be carried out through the intervention of State Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Rohana Dissanayake.

Under this project, the Hockey grounds at Reid Avenue in Colombo 07 and Nandimithra International Hockey ground in Matale will get synthetic turfs and these turfs comply with standards set by the International Hockey Federation.

State Minister Dissanayake said that these grounds will get new turfs within 3 months.

The State Minister also thanked Minister Harin Fernando for providing guidance to make this project a reality.

The International Hockey Federation recognized the services of State Minister Rohana Dissanayake for the uplift of Hockey in Sri Lanka by presenting a special award to him during the signing ceremony.
