Air Force sportsmen felicitated for special deeds

Sportsmen of Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) who performed well in baseball, hockey and rugby football were felicitated by the Commander of the SLAF, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana during a special ceremony held at the SLAF Headquarters in Colombo.

Meanwhile, keen individuals who performed well at national and international levels were also felicitated with special rewards by the President Air Force Sports Council.

In addition, the Commander of the Air Force, promoted the two members of the Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Team – Corporal O. U. Ranasinghe to the next rank of Sergeant and Leading Aircraftwoman K. G. M. Shehani to the next rank of Corporal – in appreciation of their performances at the Asian Cricket Council T20 Championship 2022.

Apart from the special individuals the SLAF Rugby Head Coach, Shamly Nawas, Assistant Coach Dilan Soyza and SLAF Baseball Coach Vihanga de Silva were appreciated by the Commander for their untiring dedication towards keeping the SLAF flag flying high.

Best Player of Sri Lanka Rugby 7s: A. T. D. Dabare. Most Valuable Player of the Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship National Baseball Cup: W. D. S. Sandaruwan. Gold Medalist at the 47th National Sports Festival – Marathon: T. W.. Rathnapala. Team member for 2nd South Asian Women’s Basketball Championship 2022: SAN Sasanthi. Team member at the 8th World Carrom Championship 2022: B. U. C. Perera. Team members of the national Women’s cricket team: O. U. Ranasinghe and K. G. M. Shehani.
