Akmeemana PS fails to collect Assessment Taxes in 2023

During 2023 Akmeemana Pradeshiya Sabha has failed to recover Assessment Taxes from 6,003 property units, an audit report issued by National Audit Office reveals.

The report also states that due to the failure to collect due taxes, a financial loss of over Rs. 14.7 million has been caused to the council. Due to the above omission, the revenue of the council has suffered a marked drop, the Audit Report further points out.

However, in response to the audit queries the council has said that the taxpayers had not paid due taxes although they had notified them in writing.
