Nineteen year old, Akram Muthalib is the present Captain of the First IX Cricket team of Trinity College,Kandy and a Grade Twelve student of the school in the Commerce stream and Akram led the cricket team to victory in the 40th Limited over Cricket match against St.Anthonys’ College, Katugastota this year. His first coach was Dimuthu Weerasinghe and he was coached by Kavinda Jayawardena,Dilka Panagoda, Nalin Ekanayake, Lahiru Sandakelum and Roshan Jaleel.

Akram started playing cricket from Grade One onwards and at the start he was just a left hand batsman but gradually from Grade Five onwards he became a Wicket Keeper and Captained the School Under 13,15.17 and 19 Cricket teams with distinction.

At the Under 13 and 15 levels he has scored over Four Hundred runs at the Division One Cricket Tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and he represented the School First XI Cricket team for the last four years and this year he scored over seven hundred and Fifty Runs including One Hundred and Sixty five runs against Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa. He has scored Ninety runs against Wesley, Eighty runs against St. Josephs’ and Seventy runs against DS Senanayake Vidyalaya and he has become the leading Wicket Keeper claiming Twelve victims behind the stumps.

In the year 2021 and 2022 he represented Kandy District at the Under Twenty three Provincial Cricket tournament and he has played for Moors Sports club as well as Baduraliya SC in the same tournament and at present he is playing for S.S.C. under the Coaching of Saman Jayantha and his intention is to represent Sri Lanka in future.
