Alubomulla youth drowns in Bolgoda River

A youth drowned when a group of five young men went swimming in the Bolgoda River last Monday (27) Alubomulla Police said.

The deceased was a 19-year-old resident of Alubomulla area. This young man suddenly drowned in the Bolgoda River and his friends tried to save him by throwing a stick tied to a rope, but the deceased young man could not hold on to it. Police said that the boat at the pier was also locked at that time. So his friends asked for the help of the residents of the area, a resident managed to get him out and take him to the Panadura Hospital.

Even though doctors tried their best to save his life, the young man died approximately 30 minutes after he was admitted to the Panadura Hospital.

A post-mortem examination of the dead youth was to be carried out at the Panadura Base Hospital
