A total of 7,143 Army personnel, 714 Navy personnel and 507 Air Force personnel who were marked as Absent without Official Leave (AWOL) have obtained legal discharge from their service during the first week of the General Amnesty period ended on Saturday (27), Tri Forces Media Spokesmen confirmed today.
The one-month long general amnesty is effective from April 20 – May 20 and will facilitate the other rank personnel of Tri-Forces who have not reported for duty without leave on or before December 31, 2023 to obtain legal discharge from the service.
In addition, the Army Media Spokesman said another 13 Army personnel marked as AWOL and currently out of the country will also obtain their legal discharge from the service in the near future during the general amnesty.
The Ministry of Defence has announced that the general amnesty period currently in effect is not applicable for Commissioned Officers who are marked as AWOL.
