Cabinet approval has been granted to establish the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ Fund and Presidential Task Force to oversee its implementation, Cabinet Spokesman, Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa said. During this week’s Cabinet press briefing, Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa explained that Sri Lanka is currently facing challenges across various sectors: economic, political, social, spiritual, and environmental. In response, the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative has been conceived as a national mission to promote the country’s well-being, reconciliation, and progress.
Guided by the new government’s vision of “A Prosperous Country, a Beautiful Life,” this initiative aims to foster social, environmental, and ethical rejuvenation. The proposal, submitted by the President, includes implementing the programme through the Presidential Secretariat, establishing the Presidential Task Force to lead it, and setting up the “Clean Sri Lanka Fund” under the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development. This fund, managed by a Board of Governors, will provide the financial resources necessary to achieve the programme’s objectives.
