Arrested for accepting Rs.400,000 bribe

The Acting Secretary and Revenue Inspector of Avissawella Municipal Council has been arrested by the Bribery Commission while accepting a bribe to accelerate the process of vesting the ownership of a shop at the then Avissawella bus stand premises.

The suspect was arrested at the Avissawella Municipal Council while receiving a bribe of Rs.400,000 in connection with a case related to handing over the ownership of a shop in the shopping complex of Avissawella bus stand. He is to be produced in court.
