Arrested for selling land with forged documents

Officers of the Commercial Crime Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department yesterday arrested a person involved in the sale of a portion of the land called Unaveli Estate located in Madurankuli, Puttalam for Rs. 22.5 million by preparing forged documents.

The suspect is a 63-year-old resident of Sinnapadu. The Criminal Investigation Department states that he first mortgaged the land to a bank to commit this fraud. The suspect was to be produced in Court.
