Arrested for trying to sell elephant tusks for Rs.5 Mn

A man who tried to sell two elephant tusks for Rs. five million was arrested yesterday (13) at a temple in Akuressa, Bopavita, Puwakwatta by a team of officers from the Anti-Corruption Unit of Valana, Panadura. 

The suspect is a 43-year-old resident of Pitabeddara. He was arrested following information received by the Police. The Anti-Corruption Unit of Valana, Panadura had deployed officers posing as businessmen interested in buying the tusks in an operation to arrest the suspect.
