Founder of The Pathfinder Foundation, former Cabinet Minister and High Commissioner (HC) to India Milinda Moragoda recently published a book titled “Ashoka Vadana” in Sinhala. This book was translated into Tamil as “Malarum Yugathirku Pudiyathor Vadivam’ and launched at Saraswathy Hall, Bambalapitiya.
The book contains selected articles from his newspaper column of the same name that ran during Moragoda’s tenure as HC to India. The purpose of the column was to present the experience of India in the realms of Economics, Science, Society and Politics placed within the context of Sri Lanka.
Copies of “Malarum Yugathirku Pudiyathor Vadivam’’ published by The Pathfinder Foundation, were first handed over by Moragoda to the Ven. Elkaduwe Nagitha Thera, Swami Aksharatmananda of Ramakrishna Mission, Colombo, Shrilasri Vaitheeswaran Kurukkal, Bishop Asiri P. Perera, and Ash Sheikh M.S.M Thassim. Colombo Thamil Sangam President Dr. K. Raguparan presided over the book launch. Retired Chief Justice K. Siripavan, and Director of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the Indian High Commission, Dr. Ankuran Dutta were the Guests of Honour, and Dr. M. Ganeshamoorthy, Economist/Senior Lecturer, Department of Economics of the University of Colombo was the Guest Speaker, while Dr. Yasodara Kathirgamathamby, Senior Lecturer, Legal Studies, Faculty of Humanities & Social Science of the Open University, reviewed the book. At the end of the event, copies of the book were handed over to the school libraries of Hindu College Bambalapitiya, Ramanathan Hindu Ladies College Bambalapitiya, Saiva Mangaiyar Vidyalayam, Wellawatta and St. Mary’s Tamil Maha Vidyalayam Bambalapitiya. The Pathfinder Foundation will arrange to make available copies to other National and Private school Libraries as well.
