Asian Grammer School Colombo emerged champions in their inaugural big match against Royal International school Kurunegala played at D.Senanayake College grounds Wijerama Mawatha on Saturday .
Asian Grammer School scored 223 all out in 47 overs while Royal International school Kurunegala managed to get 130 all out in 43.4 overs losing by 93 runs . Lochana Sirimanne 38 from 50 balls while Hesala Liyanarachchi hit run a ball 47 guided to build up Asian Grammer School innings .Mayusha Shenal ( 16) and Dinul Weerasinghe ( 20 ) also made useful contribution for Asian Grammer School .
Upeka Malliyawadu 3 for 30 and Senuda Moragaspitiya 3 for 43 took bowling honours for Royal International school.Royal International school chasing a target of 224 were all out for 130 in 43.4 overs while Isala Liyanage 3 for 32 and Dinul Weerasinghe 3 for 17 did most of the damage .Promod Rajapaksa ( 23) and Senan Kaluhendiwela ( 47) made good knocks for Royal International school.
Hesala Liyanarachchi and Isala Liyanage both from Asian Grammer School were adjudged best batter and best bowler while Akarsha Karunaratne of Royal International school was named best fielder .Dinul Weerasinghe of Asian Grammer School was adjudged man of the match while Master Blaster Sanath Jayasuriya was the chief guest and two founders of schools Dr Thushari Koralage and Dr Newton Pieris and Lasantha Amarasinghe Chairman of Chance Sports graced the occasion
