Asitha Wanninayake scored a fine century with 13 fours in 200 balls as Sri Lanka Under 19 team scored 248 for 6 declared in their three-day practice match against Young Lions International X1 played at ECB Performance Center, Loughborough, England yesterday. Wanninayake all rounder from St. Anthony’s Kandy was leading the way by scoring a fine knock of 100.
According to the Sri Lankan Under 19 team Manager Jayantha Seneviratne, Sri Lankan under 19 side led by Raveen de Silva made a good batting display on the first day while the second day of the game washed out due to rain. Yesterday, at the time of going to press, Young Lions International X1 were 80 for 5 wickets on the third and final day.
Sri Lanka Under 19 team is scheduled to play their first four-day Test against England Under 19 team at Chelmsford (Essex CCC) from August 21 to 24 followed by the second four-day Test from August 28-31 at Derby (Derbyshire CCC).
