The Colombo Stock Market’s All Share Price Index (ASPI) for the first time since May 10, 2024, crossed the 12,500 mark, gaining 44.08 points to close at 12,517.58 points during early trading hours. John Keells Holdings, Commercial Bank, and LOLC were the primary contributors to the ASPI’s upward movement, stock brokers said. Amidst the improved participation, turnover stood at LKR 4.8 billion for the second consecutive day, marking a 95.1 percent increase from the monthly average standing at LKR 2.4 billion.
The Banking sector led turnover by 58 percent, with Hatton National Bank (HNB) contributing LKR 1.4 billion and Sampath Bank LKR 1.1 billion.
This was followed by the Capital Goods and Material Sectors jointly contributing 24 percent of the overall turnover. Foreign investors remained net sellers, with a net outflow of LKR 186.4 million whilst total foreign outflow for the week stood at LKR 179.6 million.
