ASPI hits record breaking 14,000 mark

The Colombo Bourse reached a new milestone, surpassing the 14,000 mark and closed the trading session at 14,036, gaining 151 points.

During yesterday’s trading session, the majority of investor attention was focused on Banking sector stocks, along with companies in the Food, Beverage and Tobacco sector, as well as Construction sector stocks.

Amidst multiple off-board transactions and increased participation from retail investors, turnover stood at Rs.7.4 billion, marking an increase of 76.8%, from the monthly average, First Capital Research said.

The Capital Goods sector led the turnover by 24%, followed by the Banking and Materials sectors jointly contributing 35% of the overall turnover.

There was a net foreign inflow of Rs.306.6 million signalling interest in internal investments.

Meanwhile CT CLSA Securities recalled that the Colombo Bourse closed positive in November 2024 as well, with the benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) rising +3.3% Month on Month basis while the more liquid S&P SL20 index increased +1.1% MoM. Average daily turnover too increased to Rs.3,650 million in November 2024. This was recorded at Rs.2,757 million in October 2024.
