Assault on SDIG Tennakoon: 8 suspects granted bail

Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday ordered that the eight suspects involved in the attack on the Senior Deputy Inspector General    of Western Province, Deshbandu Tennakoon be released on personal bail of Rs.500,000 as they had pleaded guilty to the offence. The eight suspects were to be produced for an identification parade.

The Magistrate made this order after considering the request made by a group of lawyers representing the suspects who submitted affidavits that the suspects were scheduled for an identification parade and that the suspects were ready to plead guilty. The Colombo Crimes Division presented the facts regarding the incident to the Court.
