Awareness on ‘Solar Power for Farming’

An awareness programme and a field test on ‘Solar Power for Farming’ was conducted recently by Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority in connection with the Pannala Ussana Irrigation Project. The main purpose of this was to implement this irrigation project, currently nonfunctional, in the near future, with aid from the Asian Development Bank, and to harvest about 500 acres of agricultural land during the Yala and Maha seasons.
