Beedi stock worth five million seized

A group of officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Katunayake Police seized a stock of 720,000 fake beedis worth five million rupees from a house of a businessman in Avariwatta, Katunayake.

This type of beedi is popular in Sri Lanka and it is produced in Negombo, Pitipana and Matara.

The arrest was made by Katunayake Police on a tip-off.

There is a great demand for this beedi in Katunayake as well.

Police has also seized a three-wheeler along with three suspects.
