Bishop’s College performed exceptionally well in the Intermediate Diving Championship organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU), concluded at the Royal College Aquatic Complex yesterday.
They emerged as the Girls Overall Champions, accumulating a total of 129 points over the two-day meet. Thurstan College secured the Boys Championship with 92 points, narrowly surpassing the runner-up, Royal College, who finished with 91 points.
In the Girls Overall category, the runners-up were Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo, scoring 20 points. St. Joseph’s College and Ladies College secured the third places with 57 points and 20 points, respectively.
Moving to specific age groups, in the Under-20 Age Group, Sanyumi Sirimanne from Visakha Vidyalaya became the champion in the Girls 1m Springboard event, scoring 117.20 points. Chenuil Ariyadasa from Bishop’s College secured the runner-up position with 61.55 points. Udesh Dissanayake from Royal College emerged as the champion in the Boys Under-20 category, scoring 111.5 points. Shehala Siva from St. Joseph’s College and Chanithu Geeneth from Royal College became the runner-up and third place winner, respectively.
In the Girls Under-17 1m Springboard event, Imandi Mahawatte from Visakha Vidyalaya won the championship with a score of 87.75 points, followed by Bishopian Binuli Heendeniya as the runner-up with 71.74 points. Kenula Perera from Thurstan College became the Boys Under-17 champion in the 1m Springboard event, scoring 123.15 points. Shion Kiyanage from St. Joseph’s College secured the runner-up position with 119.60 points, and Banula Perera from Thurstan College took third place with 109.25 points.
In the Under-15 Girls category, Bishop’s College dominated the 1m Springboard event with Anira Gunasekara (92.40), Aneeqa Aniff (88.95), and Heshalee Pushpawansa (87.35) securing the top three positions. In the Under-15 Boys category, Ovin Martino from St. Joseph’s College emerged as the champion with a score of 150.35 points. Michael Gunawardene from S Thomas’ College and Rithul Jayasinghe from Stafford International School finished as the runner-up and third place winner, respectively.
Ovindu Vidusara from Thurstan College became the champion in the Boys Under-15 Platform event, scoring 93.70 points. Ovin Martino from St. Joseph’s College and Rithul Jayasinghe from Stafford International School secured the runner-up and third place positions, respectively.
Finally, in the Under-13 Girls Platform event, Bishopian Nethanya de Silva won the championship with a score of 57.50 points. Vithula Weerakkody from DS Senanayake College emerged as the Boys Under-13 champion in the Platform event, scoring 70.65 points. Sushen Wijesinghe from Royal College secured the runner-up position with 70.00 points, and Levin Perara from Thurstan College took third place with 59.10 points.
