Bond issuance case against Cabraal quashed

Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunuwela yesterday quashed the case against former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, in connection with an issuance of bonds worth US$ 500 million.

The Magistrate while accepting the preliminary objections made by counsel Sampath Mendis who appeared for the accused, set aside the case citing that the lawsuit is purely based on the Forensic audit report and no other evidence regarding the case has surfaced.

The order was issued when the case against former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivaard Cabraal was taken up before the court yesterday. Former Central and Southern Province Governor Ranjith Tennakoon had filed this private plaint by an affidavit.
