Colombo bourse continued its positive trend for the third consecutive day whilst recording healthy turnover. Thus, All- Share Price Index increased by 65.3 points (+0.8%) to close at 8,375.2 for the day whilst S&P SL20 Index also increased by 27.6 points (+1.1%) to close at 2,640.3.
Expolanka Holdings, Browns Investments, Melstacorp, Richard Pieris and Ceylon Tobacco remained as the top positive contributors to the ASPI during the day. Further, the broader market’s total turnover stood at Rs. 2,881.4 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of Rs. 3,419.5 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 100,330.9k against the 12-month average daily volume of 192,036.8k.165,718.9k. Transportation, Capital Goods, Banks and Energy sectors mostly contributed to yesterday’s turnover.
The top turnover generators for yesterday were Expolanka Holdings Rs.1,240.6 mn (+3.9%), Lanka IOC Rs. 381.7 mn (-0.9%), Browns Investments Rs.287.1 mn (+6.6%),
First Capital Holdings Rs.119.4 mn (+13.4%) and First Capital Treasuries Rs.87.5 mn (+8.0%). Net foreign inflow recorded as Rs.1.1 mn today. Foreign purchases stood at Rs. 85.3 mn whilst total foreign sales amounted to Rs.84.1 mn. Top foreign buying counters EXPO LKR. 29.0 mn, SPEN LKR. 17.0 mn, CCS LKR. 13.6 mn, DIAL LKR. 5.6 mn, LOFC LKR. 1.8 mn and SCAP LKR. 1.1 mn whilst top foreign selling counters were MELS LKR. (39.6) mn, JKH LKR. (17.0) mn, BIL LKR. (5.5) mn, WATA LKR. (1.2) mn, COOP LKR. (1.2) mn and PLC LKR.(1.1) mn.
Further, an off-board transaction was witnessed in Melstacorp (Rs.39.6 mn) yesterday. Additionally, SMB Leasing (Non-Voting), Industrial Asphalts, Colombo Investment Trust, Ramboda Falls and First Capital Holdings were the top price gainers yesterday whilst The Light House Hotel, Jetwing Symphony, Nations Trust Bank (Non-Voting), Malwatte Valley Plantations and Mahaweli Coconut Plantations were the top price losers. Further, Browns Investments, Expolanka Holdings, First Capital Holdings, First Capital Treasuries and LOLC Finance were among the most actively traded stocks yesterday.
