Brigadier Hathurusinghe ITO for Asian Games Golf

Brigadier Nanda Hathurusinghe’s appointment as an International Technical Official (ITO) representing Sri Lanka at the 19th Asian Games Golf competition in September 2023 stands as a testament to his exceptional acumen as one of the nation’s most accomplished technical officers in the sport. He is a product of Isipathana College.

Hathurusinghe’s affinity for golf began during his tenure as the Chairman of Army Golf Administration from 2014 onwards. His untiring efforts and the major role he played in redeveloping the Diyatalawa course -which hosts the annual prestigious Highlanders Cup- endeared him to golf enthusiasts. The journey culminated in his appointment as the Secretary of the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, where he contributed significantly to advance the sports local presence.

Hathurusinghe’s love affair with golf and his commitment to its advancement in Sri Lanka are evident in his recent accomplishments. He diligently completed the level 1 and 2 rules seminar examinations under R&A guidance establishing a foundation for his subsequent achievement in the Tournament Administrators and Referee’s Course which he successfully undertook following R&A protocols. He secured the esteemed R&A Rules certification after completing both theory and practical examinations at a seminar in Vietnam in 2019. Prior to his role as the head of the executive team at Nuwara eliya Golf Club, he held the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor at the Kotelawala Defence University until his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army.
