Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB ) National Organiser Tissa Attanayaka said that the Government has not mentioned in the Budget 2023 how they generate jobs to youths.
Speaking to the Daily News Attanayaka said that the Government should focus more on fulfilling the burning issues of the youth, especially their unemployment.
He also said that the Government is always trying to earn money by imposing various taxes or selling valuable State properties and it will be a another burden to the people.
“The Government should know that a majority of the people are leading a very miserable life due to the high Cost of Living and that price reduction of any essential consumer item has not mentioned in the Budget as expected by the people,” he said. Attanayaka also said that a majority of the down-trodden people expected a friendly Budget that highlights the reduction of essential consumer items, but it was unable to mention any economic benefit to the people.
“The economy has fallen into zero and a majority of the people are suffering due to the unbearable high prices of essential food items and other consumer goods,” he said.
Attanayaka added that the Budget has not mentioned how the Government is going to strengthen the export sector to bring more foreign exchange. “Imposing more and more taxes is not the solution to earn money,” he said. Although the President mentioned several Budget proposals, it has no any plan to earn money. Therefore, the Budget was an utter failure,” he said.
