‘Budget proposals should not be limited to words’

SJB MP Gayantha Karunathilaka said in Parliament yesterday that there are very attractive proposals among the Budget proposals and steps should be taken to make them realistic without limiting them to words. The ‘Suraksha’ Insurance Scheme for school students which was launched in 2016 and later came to a halt, has been proposed to be re-implemented.

This should be properly implemented ensuring access to the health care of the school children.

“I was the Minister of Lands when the current President was Prime Minister. Funds have been allocated in the Budget to give land ownerships to two million people. It is a very good suggestion. These proposals should not be limited to proposals but should be made a reality.”
