Businessman held for assaulting doctor

Beruwala Police officers have arrested a businessman who is said to have assaulted a doctor of the Beruwala Hospital after the physician refused to come near his car to check the health condition of his father who was inside the vehicle.

It is said that this businessman took his father who was suffering from chest pain to the Beruwala Hospital by car on Monday night and requested the doctor to come to the car and examine the father as his father was unwell and had difficulty getting down.

Police said that it has been revealed in the investigations so far that the businessman who was angered by the doctor’s refusal had attacked him. The doctor has been admitted to the Kalutara Teaching Hospital due to an injury to his hand and hospital sources as well as the Police said that the doctor has undergone an operation.

To mark their protest over the incident staff of Beruwala Hospital engaged in a strike action yesterday (26).
