Wellampitiya Police said that the body of the businessman (the son of a retired Assistant Superintendent of Police), who jumped into the Kelani River after his bus was seized by an officer
of a finance company due to delay in rental payments, was found floating in the Kelani River, near the Kalu Palama area in Wellampitiya yesterday, six days after the incident.
The deceased was a 42-year-old father of two, residing at Malida Road, Dompe. The businessman’s father, the retired ASP, had complained to the Dompe Police that the deceased jumped into the Kelani River near Amanabedda Bridge, Dompe, Giridara on October 22.
Police said that a brother of the deceased identified the body by the thread tied on the right hand and by an injury on one of the fingers.
A postmortem examination is to be conducted.
