Cab battery stolen at police station baffles cops

The battery of a Police cab which had been parked in the garage of the Uppuveli Police Station was stolen.

A senior officer of the Uppuveli Police stated that this cab bearing number WP LE-1317 had been in the garage for several days due to a technical fault. Police stated that this cab was in the custody of constable Rajapaksa.

The officer had come back to the Police station after a few days leave and found that the cab’s battery was missing. This officer had informed his superiors about it on August 15.

Although an investigation has commenced to find the missing battery, no information has been revealed so far about the person who took the battery.

The senior Police officer said that this theft was the work of the Police and not the work of an outsider.
