0 2

The Government of Sri Lanka has identified the digitalization of the judicial system as a national priority, with the Cabinet of Ministers approving Rs. 150 million to advance the e‑Court Project.

As the first phase of the transformation, the Supreme Court has already launched a website and electronic case management system.

The project aims to extend these digital tools to all courts across the island, including the Court of Appeal, the Judicial Service Commission, and the Institute of Judges.

Plans are also underway to establish a national judicial data network, which officials say will help address longstanding issues such as case delays, lack of transparency, and procedural inefficiencies that hinder timely access to justice.

Accordingly, in order to implement the e-Court Project effectively and efficiently, in line with the International Monetary Fund’s Reform Agenda 2026-2030 Public Investment Program and the Clean Sri Lanka Strategy, the Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Justice to provide a provision of Rs. 150 million to the Judicial Service Commission from the provisions allocated under the Clean Sri Lanka Project.
