CEB meter reader assaulted by two drunk men in Minuwangete

Wariyapola Police say that a meter reader of Ceylon Electricity Board was attacked by the owner of a house in Ebawalapitiya village in Minuwangete. The meter reader was attacked by the owner of the house and his brother. They tore off his clothes and threw his mobile phone on the ground.

A meter reader attached to the Irrigation Station office of the Electricity Board has been assaulted. Police said that he is currently being treated in the hospital.

During the investigation, it was found that when this meter reader handed over the bill to the owner of the house, a person named Ajantha who was consuming alcohol with his younger brother Susantha who lives in an adjacent house.Police say that this assault was done after an argument with the meter reader.

An investigation officer of the Wariyapola Police stated that it was found during the investigation that the attack was not a problem related to the electricity bill but drunkenness. Police say that the elder brother named Ajantha who ran away after attacking the meter reader was arrested yesterday (22) and his brother named Susantha is hiding.

The arrested suspect was to be produced before the Wariyapola Magistrate’s Court.
