Chamber of Tourism conducts beach cleaning program in Arugam Bay

A 30 KM range beach cleaning program was launched under the leadership of A.M.Jaufer, President Chamber of Tourism and Industry with the support of Sustainable Clean Organization and other government institutions as well as the Pottuvil Police remembering the tsunami catastrophe on December 26, 2004.

During the is program the Sri Lanka Navy, Central Environmental Authority, Coastal Conservation Department, Marine Environment Protection Authority, Pottuvil Pradeshiya Sabha, Pottuvil Divisional Secretariat, STF Arugam Bay and fisheries societies, religious leaders, foreign tourists, Pottuvil MOH and PHI participated.

During the program A. M. Jaufer said that they welcome President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s program on sustainable tourism and appreciated the swift action taken to annul the travel advisory on Arugam Bay.

With continued focus and innovation, Sri Lanka is poised to build on this success and solidify its place as a premier global travel destination.
