Chamika takes nine wickets in Unofficial Test

Sri Lanka Emerging Team’s fast bowler, Chamika Gunasekara, made history by taking a remarkable nine wickets in a single innings. This exceptional performance led to the Bangladesh Emerging Team being dismissed for a total of 251 runs. In response, the Sri Lanka Emerging Team ended the second day of the Four Day second Unofficial Test match in Dambulla at 81/3 by stumps.

The 23-year-old right-arm fast bowler, Gunasekara, had a spectacular day one. He took six wickets, including five in the first 10 overs, which left the Bangladesh Emerging Team struggling at 54/5. By the end of the first day, Gunasekara’s tally stood at an impressive 6/27.

Continuing his terrific form into the second day, Gunasekara concluded with the historic figure of 9/58.

However, despite his excellent bowling, the Bangladesh Emerging Team’s wicket-keeper, Akbar Ali, displayed exceptional batting skills, scoring a brave hundred with 129 runs off 202 balls. This innings included two sixes and 14 fours, guiding his team to a commanding total of 251 runs.

The visitors’ Hasan Murad contributed 27 runs off 135 balls, and Rakibul Hasan made 36 runs off 119 balls, showing resilience in the face of Sri Lanka’s formidable bowling attack.

The day’s play was interrupted due to bad weather, and by the end of the second day, the Sri Lanka Emerging Team was at 81/3. Captain Sonal Dinusha was six not out, and Ashan Wickramasinghe remained unbeaten with 35 runs. The team was trailing by 170 runs by the close of play on the second day.
