China Fort Beruwala gets Gem Cutting Training Centre

For the first time, China Fort, Beruwala, the largest purchasing and export market in Sri Lanka for cut and polished gemstones was installed with a gem cutting training Centre.

This was a big void at the China Fort Beruwala Gem Market which is considered the first international gem market in the world, said State Minister for Primary Industries Chamara Sampath Dasanayake at the opening.

“This centre will enable more youth to gain employment in the industry and they can either gain local and foreign employment for high salaries or also have their own Gem cutting laboratory as an employment project.”

Founder Gem Research Swisslab Dr. A. Peretti was the Chief guest while newly re-elected President of Beruwala China Fort Gem Traders Association and MP, Marjan Faleel, Chairman of the National gem and jewellery authority Viraj De Silva and many invitees participated.
