Chinese chef arrested over Rs. 80 Mn fraud

A Chinese chef working in a popular star class hotel in Colombo has been arrested by the Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department in connection with a fraud of more than Rs.80 million.

A senior officer of the Criminal Investigation Department said that the 53-year-old Chinese national chef had defrauded the money from the hotel where he was working.

The senior official further stated that the Chinese national was arrested on charges of criminal breach of trust and defrauding money.
