
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake early this morning (January 12) during a transit stop en route to China following an official visit to South Africa.
Wang, accompanied by a 17-member delegation, was returning from Durban when the group stopped in Sri Lanka.
They were received at the airport by Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong and senior officials from the Chinese Embassy. Representing the Sri Lankan government, Savitri Panabokke, director general of the East Asia and Oceania Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other ministry officials were also present.
The delegation is scheduled to depart for China later in the afternoon. (Newswire)
