CID alerts Court on likely attempt to free ‘Harak Kata’

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage that they have received information regarding a possible attack to free a group of people including drug trafficker Wikramaratne Nadun Chintaka alias ‘Harak Kata’, currently detained at the Criminal Investigation Department.

The Criminal Investigation Department informed this while filing a motion noted that a comprehensive investigation in this regard has also been initiated.

The Criminal Investigation Department told Court that a suspect who is currently being interrogated in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department has revealed these facts. Court was also informed that the Criminal Investigation Department is questioning the suspects at length regarding the discovery of preparations for a possible attack to free ‘Harak Kata’ and others from the Criminal Investigation Department.

After considering the facts presented to the court, the Magistrate ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to investigate the incident and report to Court.
