CID probes misuse of President’s Fund

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has started an investigation to ascertain whether there has been any misuse of the President’s Fund.

A senior officer of the Police Headquarters said that a team of four lawyers had arrived at the Police Headquarters and had given a written complaint to the Acting Inspector General of Police and the investigation was ordered following the complaint.

The complaint was filed as ‘Lawyers Organisation for Protection of Public Funds’.The senior officer also said that the President’s Fund Act has clear directives on how to spend the money of the Fund and it is said that money has been spent outside of those directives; so the complaint has been filed asking for an investigation into the matter.
