CID to seek Interpol assistance over Onesh’s murder in Indonesia

The Criminal Investigation Department is focusing on getting the assistance of the International Police in the local investigation regarding the mysterious  murder of millionaire businessman Onesh Subasinghe in an apartment complex in Jakarta, Indonesia.

A senior officer of the police headquarters said that if a need arises based on the facts revealed in this investigation, a special police team of the Criminal Investigation Department will be dispatched to Indonesia.

This murder happened on February 2. Jakarta Police had confirmed that after this murder, the Brazilian wife of the deceased and the Brazilian woman, who is said to be her assistant, fled to Qatar with their four-year-old daughter.

It is said that Onesh went to Indonesia with his wife, daughter and wife’s assistant for a vacation on January 20.

A senior officer of the Department said that according to the information received from Indonesia, it appears that the killing was planned and that the killing was probably done by Onesh’s wife’s assistant.

Although this crime took place in Indonesia, it appears that the preparations for the murder took place in Sri Lanka, so the Department has started an investigation on the instructions of the Inspector General C.D. Wickremaratne.
